( 1 ) Academic  Counseling :

 

In line with the vision and mission statement of Dar Al Fikr Schools the Counseling Office encourages our students to be role models for others and strive for excellence.

One of the goals of Dar Al Fikr Schools is to prepare our students for attendance at competitive universities/colleges well suited to their abilities and interests. 

 

The university selection process is an important one.

College counseling brings together the school, students and parents to work together to find the best match for each student.

 

The college counselor meets with all students and guides them throughout the university/college search and application process with personal attention encouraging students to explore their different options in line with the wishes of their families.


( 2 ) Responsibilities of Academic and College Counselor:
The counselor assists students in:
• Selecting the courses that will satisfy the student’s skills and needs
• Being aware of the available professional and educational opportunities.
• Choosing suitable majors, colleges and universities
• The college application process
• Ensures that all required examinations are completed, especially TOEFL & SAT exams.
• Applying for scholarships
• Arranging visits to local colleges and universities
All students are given advice on appropriate international summer programs which may be academic or recreational.
The counselor keeps records of transcripts and recommendations for students and Alumni.

 



( 3 ) Dar Al Fikr is a registered testing centre for SAT, iBT TOEFL and GRE:
CEEB Number is a code that each high school uses for tracking by the College Board, ACT, TOEFL or university. The CEEB Code Number for

Dar Al Fikr Girls’ School is 52722

 

Dar Al Fikr Boys’ School is 52720
( 4 ) Standardized Tests and Examinations:
• CAT
• iBT TOEFL (Compulsory for graduation)
• PSAT
• SAT I (Compulsory for graduation)
• SAT II (optional)

   

 

Each year the younger students are given the opportunity to sit for one of the Cambridge Young Learners English Examinations, Starters, Movers, Flyers, KET and PET. These are set by the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate and are managed by the British Council here in Jeddah. The examination consists of a listening and speaking section with an outside examiner and a reading and writing paper. The qualification is recognized worldwide and is a very useful indication of the English level for those attending summer schools or transferring to schools abroad at some later date.
